Dampier Gold (ASX: DAU) has confirmed a new zone of gold at the Budgie prospect, part of the Plutonic Dome project, with results from 14 of 39 holes received.
Highlights from the Budgie prospect included:
- 19 metres at 2.46 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 109 metres, including, 8 metres at 4.75g/t gold; and
- 10 metres at 3.57g/t gold from 70 metres, including, 4 metres at 6.07g/t gold.
Highlights from the K2-K3 prospect included:
- 10 metres at 3.24g/t gold from 79 metres, including, 4 metres at 6.22g/t gold.
More drilling at Plutonic is planned for March 2011.
Dampier acquired Plutonic from Barrick Gold (TSE: ABX), which covers the majority of the Plutonic Greenstone Belt, excluding Barrick’s underground mining and processing operation.
Dampier’s project area produced around 580,000 gold ounces from 40 open pits in a generally low gold price environment between 1990 and 2005.
The project currently contains a Probable Ore Reserve of 35,000 gold ounces and a Mineral Resource of around 434,000 gold ounce
